If wine glass storage is an issue in your home, you’re not alone. I have an entire house—in the Midwest, no less—and still had to DIY a semi-permanent solution for my collection of vintage coupes and colorful goblets. With not an inch of kitchen cabinet space to spare, I went vertical with staggered shelves that I cut and painted, then leveled on heavy-duty gold brackets in my dining room. Luckily there’s an easier way. In fact, there are four easier ways and none of them involve a saw or paint.

But before you decide how you’re going to organize your stemware, be honest with yourself about how much of it you really need. If you’re hanging onto dozens of durable wine glasses because you think you might use them someday, or because they were a gift and you feel bad getting rid of them, it might be time to let them go in favor of a few you’ll really love. Once you’ve pared down your pieces, you may find you have room to store your stemware in a cabinet after all, while a new or new-to-you vintage set might be worthy of an open shelf.

Whether you want to hide them away or put them on display, here are four easy options—and 19 products—for wine glass storage and organization in 2022.

Store your wine glasses on simple wall-mounted shelves

Do you also have a thing for gorgeous glassware? If so, consider storing it on a simple shelf in a prominent location. Simple shelves mounted on the wall above your home bar make it easy to rotate in other items like cookbooks, decanters, and plants while keeping your wine glasses, coupes, and goblets within reach. If you’re up for this kind of open storage, play with the wall space you have to make your glassware part of your decor. If you don’t have room for one big wall-mounted shelf, a collection of staggered floating shelves is a versatile and easy way to customize your stemware storage.

Hang wine glasses upside down under (or inside of) a cabinet

Should you hang your stemware upside down? This wine glass storage solution makes so much sense in a busy bar or restaurant where servers and bartenders need easy access to a clean glass and everything has to dry quickly. But it can also work in your home, especially if you’re short on space. Wine glass hanging racks can easily be mounted underneath a kitchen cabinet (or in one if you have room) and will help keep dust from accumulating inside your glasses.

Use a wall-mounted wine glass rack

Want functional wine glass storage that’s a little more visually appealing? A wall-mounted rack made specifically for holding wine glasses is a safe way to display and store your stemware—as long as you don’t have too much of it. Like under-cabinet wine glass storage, these racks are made to hold glasses upside down to keep them from collecting dust (or other flying kitchen debris). It’s rare to find a residential wine glass rack that holds more than 12 glasses, but many have additional shelves for wine bottles or other decor, which can be helpful if you’re short on space.

Pack and store wine glasses you don’t use regularly

Are you still holding onto excess stemware? If you only bust out your wine glasses for big holiday dinners or you’re not quite ready to part with that set you registered for, you can safely pack them in a padded case made specifically for wine glass storage. Another option is using cardboard dividers in a regular moving or file box (just be sure to label it before you stick it in the basement or garage). Whichever way you go, don’t let your wine glasses end up under a box of books.
